Trying Something New

I may be a little behind the times here, but when Oldest asked me to buy a pomegranate  when I went to the grocery store, I realized maybe it was time to branch out a little in our fruit and vegetable selection.  A friend had shared some pomegranate seeds with her at school and she really liked them.

So, not wanting to discourage the consumption of fruit, I picked one up the next time I went to the store.  One of the things that intimidated me about this fruit was how in the world you cut it open and get the seed out! It looked complicated, so I turned to the place that I always go when I want to learn something new-YouTube.  This video was pretty clearcut, I followed her directions and had great results.


I found the seeds to be tart, yet sweet and they tasted great mixed in with yogurt.



Both girls loved the new fruit.  I’m not very adventurous when it comes to food, but it felt good to try something new.

Pomegranates have been called super fruits and are full of good for you vitamins and antioxidants.  So if you haven’t ever eaten one, I would recommend you give it a try!  Do you haven any exotic fruits that you have tried?  If so, I would love to hear your feedback.
