Steven Curtis Chapman – An Inspiring Musician

Today I would liSteven-Curtis-Chapman-fundraiserke to highlight inspiring Christian musician, Steven Curtis Chapman.  Many of you may be familiar with his music, which is awesome, but you may not know about his work in the world of adoption.  One of the reason we initially sought out the adoption agency Bethany Christian Services, that eventually brought us our youngest daughter, was because I  read that Steven Curtis Chapman had used this agency.  He and his wife Mary Beth are strong advocates for adoption and started a charity organization called Show Hope (formerly called Shaohannah’s Hope).  One of the many things Show Hope does to help orphans, is to offer grants to families that might not otherwise be able to adopt.  Show Hope has expanded to provide surgeries and medical care to special needs orphans and works with churches in setting up their own adoption funds.

Tragedy struck the Chapman family in 2008 when their adopted daughter Maria was killed in an accident.  Mary Beth Chapman wrote a touching book,  Choosing To See, detailing how their family coped with this tremendous loss.  She tackles the question of where is God when the unthinkable happens.  I would highly recommend this book.

It is one thing to be musically talented and share your gift with the world.  It becomes truly special when someone takes that gift and shares God’s love and so much more with the world.

Here is one of my favorite songs by Steven Curtis Chapman.  I’ve shared it on here before, but I thought you might like to hear it again.  If you like his music, he has a new album out titled The Glorious Unfolding.

~Blessings,
