God Working Again! A Story of How Prayer Works

Sarah's donation God Working

My daughter Sarah breast fed her son after he was born. Now this girl was like a milk machine. Never did I with 4 children ever produce an excess of milk. Of course back then we didn’t have the fancy “milking machines” they have now!!!! Sarah was able to freeze and save a lot of her milk and had planned on giving it to her sister’s baby because her sister was not able to nurse her baby. Her generous actions were futile though as little Emma seemed to be allergic to dairy and because Sarah drinks so much milk, little Emma just couldn’t tolerate it. This week Karen tried to reintroduce it just a little at a time and she got fussy again. So yesterday the decision was made to give the milk away. Sarah  found a group on Facebook called Human Milk for Human babies and posted that she had 1000 ounces of milk. She quickly had a response from a couple in Windsor, Ontario that wanted it. They had adopted a little girl from Northern Canada and had wanted to give her breast milk until she was two. They were down to the last few bottles and Mom was ready to accept that they would probably have to be done. But then she prayed and asked God for direction, and as you can see from the picture….we know the rest of the story. She saw Sarah’s post and immediately responded that they would take it and would drive to get it. One of my favorite moments and the most touching thing  I heard the Mom say, was how many people had helped to feed their daughter. I thought it was pretty cool that my daughter gets to be one of those women.

Now that was part 1 of how God was part of this story. Part 2 was when the woman shared a little bit about how they adopted their little girl. You see, the mother had planned on aborting this little girl. But the little girl’s mom had a prayerful grandmother. When her grandma found out what she was going to do, she got her granddaughter to agree to carry the baby as long as grandma could find someone to adopt the baby. It was a 1300 mile journey and I don’t know the details of everything they went through, but this mom said there were many mountains that were put in front of them and they all just crumbled before them and they were able to move through with the adoption. She firmly believes that God intended all along for them to parent this child. She doesn’t believe in coincidences, everything happened the way God wanted it to happen. I agree with her 100%.

I felt this was just a beautiful story and a great gift that my daughter was able to give. It actually gave me chills to witness this exchange. Have you ever had a God moment like this happen. We would love to hear your stories. Please share with us!!!!

Peace!

Inspirations to Think About!

Lemons and sugar Inspiration

I was looking for something else in my Word documents and came across this that I had saved a long time ago. This was sent to me years ago by my sister Jen…don’t know why…maybe to sit there in my documents until this blog was created so I could pass on these few words of wisdom and inspiration to our lovely audience!! Hope you find something useful!!

LEMONS and SUGAR

This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror where one could read it every day.
You may not realize it, but it’s 100% true.

1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.

2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.

3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.

4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don’t like you.

5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

6. You mean the world to someone.

7. You are special and unique.

8. Someone that you don’t even know exists loves you.

9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.

10. When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look.

11. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

And always remember….
when life hands you Lemons,
ask for Sugar and call me over!

Good friends are like stars.
You don’t always see them,
But you know they are always there.

‘Whenever God Closes One Door He Always Opens Another, Even Though
Sometimes It’s Hell in the Hallway’

I would rather have one rose and a kind word
from a friend while I’m here
than a whole truckload when I’m gone.

Happiness keeps You Sweet,
Trials keep You Strong,
Sorrows keep You Human,
Life keeps You Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only God keeps You Going

Blessings!!

Healthy “Frosty”

frosty

Those of us that LOVE ice cream treats…(did I say LOVE, like really LOVE ice cream) are always on the hunt for something lo-cal and healthy. This recipe has been floating around Facebook so I thought I would give it a try tonight. I wouldn’t say it tasted like a real Wendy’s Frosty, but it was good!! Cold, chocolaty and satisfying!!! I didn’t have sweetened almond milk so I added some stevia to sweeten it. Also because I LOVE chocolate, I used the 2 TBS of cocoa!!

3/4 cup almond milk

about 15 ice cubes (my ice cubes are kind of small so I used a few more)

1/2 tsp vanilla

1-2 TBS unsweetened cocoa powder

1/3 of a banana

Stevia to taste. If you used the sweetened almond milk you will have to adjust calories and probably won’t need as much stevia.

Blend well. I have a Nutribullet that I just love and that is what I do all of my shakes in!!!

Serves 1

Calories using unsweetened almond milk and 2 TBS of cocoa = 80 calories

WW Points = 2

I’m telling you, I have not found anything quite this delicious for only 2 points in a long time!!!!

Great treat for a hot summer day! Hope you enjoy!!

Spinach Salad!

Spinach Salad

And now that I’ve talked about improving our heart…here is a Spinach Salad I love to create.

Tear up about 2 cups of baby spinach

Add: strawberries, cuties oranges, red, yellow and orange peppers!

It provides lots of color and is loaded with vitamins. You can use any dressing that you like, but I prefer to make my own. I have recently fell in love with infused balsamic vinegar and olive oil by Fustini’s Oil. For this salad I use 3 TBS Fustini’s Cherry Balsamic Vinagerette and 1 TBS Fustini’s Meyer Lemon Olive oil. It is a wonderful combination and I love it!! Hope you try this out and enjoy it as much as I do. Fustini’s has several locations and 100’s of different combinations!  You can also order from them online. It is a treat to go into their store and try out all the different flavors!

Enjoy!
