Following Your Dreams

Today, oldest daughter and I begged the Mister to hit this spot on our way home from our vacation.  For  TLC fans, you will recognize this as D.C. Cupcakes.  We timed our visit just right and only had to wait in line for about 10 minutes!

Now I know Jules and I usually only focus on “healthy” eats, but there is more to this post than just the delicious cupcakes we enjoyed!  The story of this cupcake shop  inspired me so I wanted to share it with you.

Two sisters, Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMonatgne left careers in fashion and venture capital to follow their dream of opening their own cupcake shop.  They found great success and have expanded, opening shops in four other locations across the country!  For more about these sisters or to order their cupcakes visit their site:

Two sisters and a dream!!!! Boy does this sound familiar!  As we have mentioned before, Jules and I are dreamers!  We’ve had a lot of “great ideas” over the years that have not exactly turned out the way we had planned, but that has not stopped us from continuing to pursue our dreams (this website being one of them).  When I am dreaming up ideas, I feel so alive and happy and it is even more fun when Jules and I dream up things together!

We may not ever be as successful as the DC Cupcake sisters, but we are having fun and pursuing our dreams and you can’t put a price tag on that!   What are your dreams?  I encourage you to take even one small baby step toward something you have always wanted to do or try.  Whether it works out the way you intended is not the point, the feeling you get from pursuing a dream makes it all worthwhile!  So just go for it!  We would love to hear about what dreams you are pursuing or would like to pursue.

Here is a picture of our stash!  I aim to eat healthy most of the time, but I am a firm believer in treats in moderation (well maybe a dozen cupcakes isn’t moderation-but we shared them!).
