Fashion Inspiration

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I wanted to share with you some of the more “off the beaten path” experiences from my vacation.  One of my favorite exhibits was at The American History Museum in D.C.  We almost skipped this museum because we had read so much about the Air and Space and Natural History Museums (which were both great too) but this ended up being my favorite!  They had a room devoted to the Inaugural Ball Gowns of the First Ladies.  Oldest daughter and I really enjoyed this exhibit-hubby-not so much!  One of my favorite gowns is pictured above and was worn by Nancy Reagan, who I have always thought looks so glamorous and put together.

So how is this inspiring?  I have a confession, I love clothes.  To me, nothing beats the feeling of putting on an outfit that really makes you feel great.  It lifts my spirits and makes me feel like I can tackle anything the day might bring.  I know this might sound superficial and I have lots of other “tools” that help me face the day on a positive note, but I do think that feeling your best and looking put together really helps build confidence and just makes you feel good.

I am a firm believer that what is on the inside counts the most, but I think it is okay to spend some time taking care of   your outside too.  How about you?  Do you have a favorite fashion icon?  What is your favorite “go to” outfit that always makes you feel like a million bucks?

Here is a photo of President Reagan and Nancy Reagan wearing the dress displayed in the museum.  Speaking of fashion icon-President Reagan looks pretty dapper-classic style!
